Well balanced, fantastic graphics and wonderful game play. This is an easy to play Star Trek game based in the JJ Abrams universe. The story driven game play leads you through the universe completing missions and earning materials to build up your base and your ships. You can side with any of the factions increasing your allies and enemies alike. This is a free-to-play game but is also a pay-to-win game. Everything in this game can be aquired F2P, but a little cash can speed you along.
The pay-to-win is strong with this one. I've been playing the game for a month, which is when things start getting frustrating.level 15 is when other players can come and take all your stuff. Well, maybe not ALL you stuff, but enough to make it hard to do much. Okay, to start off. Fleet command is misleading. You don't command a fleet, you command a couple of ships. Maybe three when you get much higher than I have. You cannot do any kind of fleet actions, each ship does its own thing, and can never coordinate with any other ship. Not your allies, not even your own. I have so far built 10-12 ships, but can only ever use 2. Now, construction and repairs. No matter how advanced your station gets, you get ONE construction crew. Once you tell them to start working on one thing, they continue to work on that one thing until it's done. You cannot interrupt it (Not even abandoning progress) to do something else first, so you'd better be sure when you touch the "start" button. You might have just tied up your constuction crew for literally days, making some of the daily goals impossible to reach. The same goes for your researchers and (worst of all) ship repair crews. Ship repair/storage is its own head scratcher. Yout station starts out with a single "drydock" which means that you can only ever have a single ship out and about. You might build another in the shipyard, but only the one can do anything. The drydock is dedicated for the use of that one ship. Imagine a Naval yard which has to have one drydock for every ship in the fleet. The entire coastline of the USA would be populated with drydocks 6 deep! It gets better. Later you have 2 drydocks, but apparently only one repair crew, since you cannot repair more than one ship at a time. You can build another ship (Though I have no idea where it is supposedly stored while you cannot have it do anything. Certainly not in drydock.) but apparently that crew doesn't do anything except build ships, because they don't repair them. They also don't build anything else on-station. Say your battleship is in for heavy repair. It takes a half hour. In the meantime, someone comes along and hits your other ship, a mining ship that can be repaired almost instantly, but it will have to wait for the repair crew to finish the job they've started, because you cannot interrupt them. Finally, the UI is terrible. The menu structures are inconsistent, there are at least 4 different style of menu system, none of which look anything like any revision of Star Trek controls from the shows of movies. One where you select from a list (Speed-ups for research, repairs, or building) moves while you're using it. Say you want to use 2 "30 minute" speed-ups, after you click it once, the game will re-evaluate your available speed-ups and might move it so you're suddenly clicking one that you don't want, and costs in-game currency (Which all too often translates to real-world currency.) Cha-Ching! Come again! So you learn to be careful. Other menus side-scroll, and are unclear. Some menus return you to the previous place when you make a selection, others, you need to identify the "back" button to return, which sometimes looks different, or is in a different place. Some major game interfaces you cannot get to from some places. You cannot go to your station interior, except from the station exterior. You cannot go to the Galaxy view (for interstellar trips) except from the system navigation. Once you are in the Galaxy view, you cannot navigate to a system unless you zoom in on it. You cannot locate a system by name. Missions are hard to follow linearly. There is no rhyme or reason as to what order they appear in the list, and once you complete one step, the next step is not immediately obvious if you don't remember the name. There is no way to review completed steps, so if you missed a line of dialog, it's gone. If you can't remember the steps before the one that you're doing, you're going to miss any kind of story, which is pretty weak to start with, but is the sole thing that I kept trying to play for.
the game is crooked geared to theft of other players resorses. the game is made to make money only. higher level players are always stealing from lower level players by destroying there bases. the lower level players are prey for the thieves. this game is nothing but a money grubbing machine. filled with glitches, lagging and freezing. do not pay any money to play this game. if you pay to play you are a fool. Congress is looking into these types of games. Geared only for money.
This game has so much potential. I love building the station and the ships, and exploring and doing missions are also great. BUT most useful in app purchases are expensive, to the tune of $100. Making matters worse, and ultimately a deal breaker for me, you can spend big time real world money on resources, only to have it all stolen if your station's shields are down for just an hour. Or even 30 minutes. Purchases should be protected, or their should be a way to play without factions. My 2 cents
The game is rigged, once you reach a certain level, you become a farm for the bigger players, your not allowed to attack someone that many levels lower than you, but the bigger players can attack you, unless you start buying the hundred dollar packages to help level up, only packages they offer, so this is only for the rich and not the everyday player!
A very fun game, but the plethora of bugs that are not addressed makes it seem like the company doesn't care about any player's experience. They just keep raking in the money and do not fix anything. The events are a really cool distraction but I recommend staying away from spending any money, as tempting as the packs are. My biggest complaint is not being able to attack a player four levels below, yet getting attacked by players 9 levels above. It makes this game extremely unbalanced.
bugs still always happen and some have been around for a long time, like ships getting stuck in combat. Notifications from attacks can still be slow sometimes. Game content is slightly better with the swarm events. resource requirements are out of balance. grade 3 materials are too scarce for the amount required. PVP is badly unbalanced with high level players able to attack low level players but not the other way around. the game is heavily geared to make people spend money.
The game has good graphics, but this is overshadowed by the PvP rules (far more superior players being able to attack you) and by the numerous bugs in the game (top worst is late arrival of notifications). This game will become a huge disappointment for you and a big source of frustration. Not to mention a huge waste of time or money (i especially advice against paying for the in game purchases). Also, even if you report a bug which affected you, don't expect any help from support team.
Up to a point the game is fun, but as you quickly reach a point where you are a farm for higher players and you can no longer progress. Say you need 250k parsteel to upgrade, but you never get that much because higher players are always stealing it. Impossible to upgrade. When mining, you are a target and will be attacked and lose ore. Refinery is broken. 12 uncommon two star ore from a week of refining 30k per day. At this rate I can't upgrade a ship for at least 6 months! Low level players pay $$$ to get the Jellyfish, but if you don't have the £50 to spend on a ship just accept that these players will totally dominate you. They have 75k+ HP ships, you'll have around 15k. Unless you want to fork out $$$ or want to spend years getting anywhere or doing anything then avoid this game.
For a year now they have been promising us Warp Cancel. It has not happened. Yet every month they find time to program new galaxies, content & ships. They expect you to spend hundreds/thousands of dollars per week on a game that lacks common sense functions. I hate your gameplay & regret every purchase! Your offers are deceptively false. Every month you advertise multiple packages as the best value. They can't all be the best value! That's another blatant lie!
Their new update to recruit chest worsened the odds to get better recruits. No longer do you get epic shards and most of the time you don't even get rare shards from the second chest. Don't upgrade to level 11 if you are playing the events. At level 10 you only need to destroy 20 level 10 ships to get the same reward as at level 11 where you will have to destroy 150 level 11 ships for the same reward (x1 event token). This game does not do a good job of making events accessible to all players.
total pay to win. if you don't spend thousands of dollars, you'll never be able to compete effectively. very buggy game, too. developer not very interested in fixing bugs, either, as many have been around for months on end. however, game does have nice graphics and sound, and makes good use of the star trek IP and characters.
AVOID THIS GAME....help and support back up is a complete shower of sh**e. I have been unable to login for 21 days and i keep getting told " we have our best people on it".... and fobbed off with other lame "we will sort it" comments, well they are obviously not good enough and your efforts to sort the issue is not good enough. Any programmers worth their salt would have sorted this ages ago. I now doubt you will ever fix this issue but if so this review might change until then it stays!!!
OK game but as with all these games once you hit lvl 10 you can't progress much further due to being constantly farmed by the p2w/higher lvl players. Like these type of games but have no interest in attacking others just want to play the game. Would be nice if they could put in a 'peace' mode so those who want to play the main game can and still be able to advance to a higher lvl. Most likely will uninstall it soon if I can't get past lvl 10/12 then what's the point?
A month ago when I bought 2 packs totalling £150 in order to get resources required to upgrade a ship to make it more powerful. Joke was on me since upgrading the ship does not seem to bring any real increase in power. Been back and forth with support in an attempt to get this clarified, resolved or a refund. Support's answer eventually was that it has been passed on and their team will look into it. It has been 2 weeks since then and no response. "Pay now to get benefits when we sort our bugs"
